Ventilator Market Insights

A ventilator is a medical device used to assist or replace the respiratory functioning by moving breathable air into and out of the lungs of a critically ill patient. The machine is used for a patient who is at severe risk of multiple organ failure and is unable to physically breathe due to an insufficient supply of air into the system. The manufacturing cost is extremely high and sometimes proves to be the differentiating factor between the life and death of a patient. From the research and case studies, the ventilator market share has dramatically increased since the arrival of the novel coronavirus strain, COVID-19. The ventilator market is estimated to pull up the growth at a CAGR of 12.5% from the 2020-2026 period. Advancement in healthcare, performance, and construction of the machine has turned out to show major advantages such as improved wearing, oxygenation, less damage to lungs, and better gas exchange.

A growing percentage of the geriatric population who are more vulnerable to respiratory disorders will generate the highest revenue of the ventilator market around the globe. Rising prevalence of patients suffering from a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchial asthma, cystic fibrosis, and other chronic and acute respiratory illness are attributed to pushing the demand of the machine since the past recent years. Increasing investment by the government on healthcare internationally also encourages the manufacturers business. A global pandemic has affected more than 35 million people with nearly a million death since the outbreak. The world is struggling for enough ventilator supply, which gave unprecedented momentum to the leading manufacturers across the globe to escalate the production of ventilators. The global COVID-19 outbreak has encouraged many small firms or entrepreneurs from a wide industrial spectrum to collaborate and build up the ventilator business in the recent crisis.

Ventilator Market

Ventilator Market By Mobility

The ventilator market is differentiated into two mobility types intensive care, and portable. The intensive ventilator accounted for the largest market shareholder segment. The rise in the number of primary care beds equipped with ventilators will enhance the significance of the market’s segment. Besides, the COVID-19 outbreak led to an increased number of ICU admissions which was also responsible for the ICU ventilator segment growth.

Ventilator Market: By Type

The ventilators are designed into two types adult, and infant. The adult segment of the ventilator contributed to more revenue than the infant segment in the year 2019. A large percentage of the adult population and a higher risk of adulthood to catch severe respiratory disorder remained to be the major segment driver. Also studies shows, COVID-19 outbreak is more vulnerable for the grown-up population with lesser death to recovery ratio.

Ventilator Market: By Mode

Volume, pressure, and combined are the bifurcations of ventilators based on the type of model used. The combined ventilator segment generates the highest revenue as compared to the rest two. The reason behind the remarkable market is its ability to provide both facilities of volume and pressure ventilator in a single system. The unique consortia of features make it stand out in the market with a higher CAGR rate compared to the competitors.

Ventilator Market: By Interface

The two types of the interface of ventilators can be explained as invasive, and non-invasive. Non-invasive ventilators are more preferred as compared to invasive ventilator owing to huge complications associated with the invasive ventilators. Also, the patient compliance and affordability of the machine make the market more vulnerable to growth. Non-invasive ventilators are designed specifically for the illness of a particular patient of all age types suffering from respiratory failure and congestive heart failures.

Ventilator Market: By End-user

Home care, hospitals, and ambulatory care center among others are the end-users of ventilators. Hospitals are the highest consumer and revenue builder end-user of the ventilator market. The hospitals have highly professional workers who can do the troubleshoot if required by the machine. Also, keeping in mind the cost of the machine, the hospital sector is more financially stable to purchase the machine in comparison to other segments. In recent times, the COVID-19 outbreak is a major accelerator for the ventilator market in the hospital segment as the number of patients is increasing daily which leads to creating more admissions and hence more demand for the machine.

Ventilator Market: By Region

North America holds the biggest market for ventilator machines and achieved the highest revenue in the year 2019. The high percentage of the growing geriatric population, increasing prevalence of respiratory disorders are the major market pulling factors. Also as per the recent updates, the US received the highest COVID-19 positive patient number in the globe therefore showed the highest ventilator market growth in 2020. The presence of leading manufacturers in the region and their multi-million project to provide medical supplies for the global pandemic has further expected to provide a significant growth trajectory in the next financial year also.

Asia-Pacific is estimated to grow upwards in the coming years. The increasing COVID-19 cases in the region have changed the percentage of the target audience and hence leading to generate high market share in recent times. Also, the high respiratory disorder rate, growing expenditure of the government in healthcare, and multiple company collaboration to achieve the desired demand is creating opportunities for high market penetration.
